Making a Backup Diskette~
------------------------
It is important to make a backup copy
of your These United States diskette
in case your original diskette is lost
or damaged.
You can make only one copy. Choose
the option "Make a Backup Copy" on the
Main Menu and follow the instructions
on the screen.
Object of the Game~
------------------
How well do you really know the fifty
states? These United States tests
your knowledge with two games:
Comparisons and Facts.
The first game asks you to compare two
states on:
1. Area in square miles
2. Population
3. Density of population per square
mile
4. Larger metropolitan area
5. Higher elevation
The second game asks you for the:
1. Standard two-letter state
abbreviation
2. State name
3. State capital
4. Largest metropolitan area
5. Year the state entered the union
Playing the Game~
----------------
Players: 1 to 4
You can play the game without a time
limit, or you can choose to set the
timer for either one minute or three
minutes. When the timer is set for
three minutes, you receive warnings at
two minutes and at one minute.

Each correct answer is worth one
point. Your score will be displayed,
as well as the all-time high score, at
the end of the game -- or whenever you
press F2.
Keys: F1 - Function keys
F2 - See current score
F3 - Hint (Facts game only)
F9 - Set options
F10 - Quit game
Setting Options~
---------------
You can set the following options:
1. Comparisons game difficulty
2. Music (on or off)
3. Screen colors
Note: When the desired color
combination is displayed, press
Enter to select.
4. Save current settings to diskette
5. Timer (3 minutes, 1 minute, or no
limit)
6. Facts game state sequence
Quitting the Game~
-----------------
To leave the game, press F10 when a
game question is displayed. A message
asks if you would like to play another
game. Type N.

Resetting Options and Scores~
----------------------------
To return the optional settings to
the original settings and reset the
all-time high scores to zero, choose
Reset Options and Scores on the Main
Menu.
